Step into a world of authentic German ambiance that was created by our ancestors and preserved by us today. Experience the unique culture that has its roots in Germany and flourished in the USA during a communal era for over 90 years.

Visitors have been coming to the scenic seven villages for over a century. Some come for the foods and to sip the wines and beers. Others, for the quality handcrafted products, art, and variety of quaint shops that line the streets of the Amanas. Maybe it’s the ambiance created by the architecture or the numerous festivals that take place in each season.

If you heard the word "Gemütlichkeit" you know what it means.  For those who haven't ... Gemütlichkeit is defined as a state of warmth and friendliness. The definition also describes it to include the qualities of coziness, belonging, peace of mind and social acceptance.  It’s kind of like being a member in a special club. It is best defined by how you feel while you’re in the Amana Colonies. The pace of life is a little more relaxed and the cares of the outside world are miles away when you’re here in the colonies. You can relax and be yourself.  The Amana Colonies serve Gemütlichkeit every day!
