We are pleased to announce that Professor Toby C. Campbell, M.D., MSCI, FAAHPM Ellen and Peter O Johnson Chair in Palliative Care Medicine will join us to present this seminar.

Dr. Campbell is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine. He is currently Vice-Chair of the Palliative Care Panel of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and, since 2011, Chief of Palliative Care Medicine which has expanded substantially under his leadership. He is the recipient of numerous honors and awards related to both his research and his compassionate care for patients including humanism awards from the University of Virginia, University of Wisconsin, and Northwestern University.

His expertise is in facilitating complex conversations such as breaking bad news, family meetings, and high-risk decision making. His work on communication crosses a variety of disciplines and he has published in major medical, surgical, and communication-oriented journals. Dr. Campbell is currently a (co) Principal Investigator on a number of NIH as well as intramural-funded research grants. He is a prolific writer, podcaster and sought-after speaker and we are delighted to have him present to the UWRA community.

Dr. Campbell, M.D., received his medical degree from the University of Virginia in 2001 and a master of science degree in clinical investigation from Northwestern University, where he also completed a fellowship in medical oncology, hospice and palliative care. Dr. Campbell completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics.
