You just do not know quite where to begin on your family search. This session will provide a basic path and general knowledge to begin the search, research skills, customary formatting techniques, considerations for the purpose of the search, ways for organization and free research sites. Options for additional education. Links will be provided to family group sheets and ancestral charts.
While an introductory look at genealogy, it will include valuable information for members who have already begun their own search.
This is the first session of a three-part series to get you started on your path to explore your past. Diane Hart Deci, with a lifelong interest in genealogy, began her research 45 years ago. Her areas of expertise are the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. She has taken multiple genealogical courses through the Wisconsin Historical Society, Georgia Genealogical Society, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is a member of several lineage societies. As WS DAR state registrar, she has presented numerous genealogical classes. Diane feels very strongly that our ancestors’ history and the history of the communities we live in affect who we are. Diane is retired from Edgewood College where she was the Blackboard System Administrator.
