As we age, the idea of simplifying our living spaces becomes more appealing, offering the promise of reduced maintenance, lower expenses, and a home that better suits our current needs. In fact, a 2022 study found that 51% of Americans aged 50 and over chose to downsize after retirement. Whether prompted by the desire to simplify, financial considerations, or health-related factors, downsizing can be a transformative process. It can also be exciting and challenging.
Join us for a discussion with a panel of speakers who will share their downsizing perspectives. The panel includes George and Donna Beestman, current residents at Oakwood-University Woods who recently downsized; Stephanie Burris, Executive Director at Cesta Senior Living; and Karen Holden, a UWRA member of the Financial Matters Committee who recently sold her home and will discuss tax implications.
This seminar will be recorded and posted on the UWRA website.
If you have preliminary questions for the speakers, please email them in advance to program coordinators Rick Daluge at rhdaluge@wisc.edu and Judith Taylor Judithtaylor@charter.net by Thursday, March 6.
