Erik Jorgensen is an audiologist and an assistant professor at UW-Madison who studies hearing aid outcomes and effectiveness among older adults with hearing loss. He is interested in making hearing aids more accessible, improving hearing aid benefit (particularly in noisy environments), and better understanding the impacts of hearing loss and hearing aid use in the daily lives of older adults. In his talk, he will go over some basics about hearing loss and its impact on daily life, how hearing aids can (and sometimes can't) help, different ways to obtain hearing aids, and what to expect from your provider in terms of care and cost. He also will discuss some of his ongoing research into how hearing aids can shape our social lives and mental health.

If you have preliminary questions for the speaker, please send them to program coordinator Scott Hildebrand at scott.h.hildebrand@gmail.com by Monday, March 3, 2025.
