rbg-child-aboutIn 1988 with the help of local Rotarians, countless volunteers, supporters and the City of Janesville, the Gardens’ founder and original visionary, retired orthodontist Dr. Robert Yahr, began a 10-year plan to clean the abandoned sand and gravel quarry, create gardens with international themes convert an old brick structure to a visitor's center improve the area and develop and beautify the Ice Age Trail.

Located in Janesville, Wisconsin, Rotary Botanical Gardens is an award winning 20-acre, non-profit botanic showcase with 26 different garden styles and 4,000 varieties of plants. The Gardens is home to many dramatic and internationally themed gardens, including Japanese, Scottish, French Formal, Italian and English Cottage Gardens.

After the tour, we are off to lunch at the Citrus Cafe.

Image result for Tallman House Janesville WIOur day ends with a guided tour of the historic 1857 Lincoln-Tallman House. As Janesville’s finest Italianate mansion, the Lincoln-Tallman House’s wide windows and well-manicured exterior offer enticing glimpses of what awaits within, while its looming size and architectural intricacy foster a sense of intrigue that can only be satisfied by a tour of the home’s inner beauty. The Lincoln-Tallman House wears its history like a silken garment, enchanting visitors with its attention to detail and innumerable artifacts from the Tallman family’s past. It is truly a museum where exhibits come alive, sometimes in very unexpected ways. Some even say it's haunted!

This day trip is in partnership with the Verona Senior Center.  


Special details:

  • Limited registrations:  This event is limited to 15 participants.  A wait list will be established if more registrations are received. Wait-listed registrants will be contacted if space becomes available.
  • Cost: $85 per person.  

     Includes admissions, lunch, guides, transportation, and all tips.

  • Refund Policy:   UWRA refunds an event fee if cancelled prior to the registration deadline.  Refunds are only processed after the registration deadline if a wait-listed registrant can attend. Refunds are made by check.
  • Pick-up Points

8:00 am Leave Dutch Mill Park & Ride (east lot)

9:00 am  Leave Verona Senior Center, 108 Paoli Street

3:30 pm  Arrive Dutch Mill Park & Ride

4:00 pm  Arrive Verona Senior Center
