Would you like a chance for further exploration of some of the thorny questions surrounding the way the internet has penetrated so many aspects of our lives today?  As we plan our programs, the Electronic Technology Committee does this during each of our monthly committee meetings, and in the October GITD session we invite members to join us.  We’ll begin with a question posed by one of our committee members:  "are we developing the “smartness” of the technology faster than the security of it? "

The ETC presentation by Emeritus Computer Science Professor Larry Landweber two years ago heightened our awareness of the Internet of Things (iOT).  His current interests have him compiling network-based articles that might not be in our everyday reading lists; some of them will be the basis for our discussion.   We don’t think this will be a “tips and tricks” type of program, but if you’re ready to delve into the philosophy of this staple of modern life, come join us!

Parking:   The Fitchburg Public Library is located just off Fish Hatchery Road, about two miles south of the Beltline. Turn left (east) off Fish Hatchery Road onto Lacy and then left into the Town Hall and Library parking area. There is a large parking area and an underground parking garage with elevator access to the second floor, where the meeting will be held

Registration:   Advance registration is required. If you are not registered in advance, you may not receive handouts. If you or your companion registered for this seminar but cannot attend, please call the UWRA Office.
